Working creatively for change since 1985

B Arts Studio

B Arts Studio is our team of dedicated makers, led by some of our most experienced artists.

From carpentry, to metalwork, to foam prop-making – we have the skills and the creativity to bring your project to life! Do you need a 14 foot stag puppet, an audio-reactive light-up headdress, or a fully cardboard theatre set?

We’re ready to say yes to your wildest ideas!

The Studio is helmed by Co-Leads Dan Higgs and Richard Redwin, who work with our network of diverse Associate Artists (including makers, illustrators, animators, performers and digital specialists) to deliver each project.

We make work that is FUN, ACCESSIBLE, INTERACTIVE, RESILIENT, and PLAYFUL!

We’re experts at working with accessible materials like cardboard and willow (but we don’t shy away from metalwork or carpentry either). We believe the world is a better place when it’s filled with vibrant, diverse, interesting art, and we like working with vibrant, diverse and interesting people!

As well as making things, we also run workshops and masterclasses to share our skills and knowledge. If you’d like to commission us to build something for you, or book us to lead a workshop or masterclass, get in touch!

And check out some of our recent work below!

B Arts Studio collaborated with Red Thing Creations to build and operate this giant Elk puppet for Stoke Lanterns 23 and 24. (His name is Eike the Elk and yes, he is available to hire - just email us!) Big thanks to Junction 15 for capturing all this beautiful footage!

The Lost Post Office is a magical winter show, and we do a new version every year! B Arts Studio can't take all the credit, but we CAN take credit for the SETS, which are almost completely made of cardboard and fill up the whole building! We're pretty proud of this one. Big thanks to YOU Films for the lovely video.

Newcastle Lanterns is an annual celebration of the town of Newcastle-under-Lyme featuring a huge lantern parade! Every year the Studio contributes by running lantern-making workshops an building a number of big statement lanterns!

Thanks to YOU Films again for the fantastic video showing off our work!
