Bread in Common
A community supported bakery/ arts space with a production kitchen, workshop spaces and a dining room/ shop: where people can buy a loaf of real bread, eat healthily, talk with friendly people, see and get involved in all of the different creative events, training and projects available through our programmes, our networks, and our partners.
We are an arts and cultural organisation so the people working in the bakery, serving in the shop and dining room, will be young artists, cooks, creative cultural practitioners, volunteers and participants.
Our innovation is that there is no division between the bakery and the arts programme. The bakery provides new points of contact for individuals, communities and artists; offering a relevant context for people to work together to make positive changes in their lives.
At the bakery we get people making, eating and sharing their own real bread; as well as making theatre, carnivals, music, digital and visual arts. In this space people can improve their employability, life-skills and health; people make and consume good art and good food together.
