B arts and the Artcity Consortium is delighted to present 100 Spaces
#ArtcityStoke #100Spaces #StokeWorks
This new multi media art commission for the City of Stoke-on-Trent is made up of two key elements:
Stoke Works; a new typographical artwork by internationally renowned artist Robert Montgomery. The 10 fragments of text will be distributed across the city on sites in public spaces. B arts Artistic Director Susan Clarke says; “The full text work can be viewed online, however the impact of the work can only be gained by standing in the street and reading the fragments in situ, something we hope everyone will do.” Sites include pottery factories, accountants offices, redundant and heritage buildings and spaces, and involve partners in the private, public and voluntary sectors.
100 Spaces; in response to Robert’s work 5 locally based artist/ curators have been commissioned to create original new works in text that fill 100 non-arts spaces with art. Work will be seen on everything from estate agents’ signboards to ceramic tiles.
The work coincided with the Artcity Conference 9/10/11 October 2019 at which artists and partners will investigate “How do Artists Shape a City?”
